How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different in that, I have been able to construct permanent house. Although the construction isn't complete, I'm optimistic that very soon I will move in. I have lived in this dilapidated thatched house for long and it has been leaking with no money to either renovate it or construct an iron roofed house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me the unconditional cash transfer. There is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought more construction materials like iron sheets, timber, nails among others with the whole of my second transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Everyday that I wake up giving thanks to God with joy because I have finally fulfilled my plan of constructing an iron roofed house. The cash transfers have changed my life because I will soon shift to an iron roofed house when complete. More so, I acquired a solar system for lighting up the house at night. Previously, we used to spend on buying kerosene which was also dangerous to our lives.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a mobile money message at night, and when I checked my phone, I was amazed by what I saw. I woke up my wife and shared the message with her . I remember my neighbours called me out and requested me to join them in prayer. I was very happy because I was in need of money to do alot in my life. At that point I started believing that GiveDirectly was indeed a trust worthy organization.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase 26 iron sheets at UGX 754000 and two doors at UGX 300000. I also bought two windows at UGX 140000 and roofing nails worth UGX 35000. I gave my spouse UGX 150000 for her upkeep. I hired a piece of land worth UGX 150000. I bought house hold items ( blanket, bed sheets, flask) worth UGX 108000. I spent UGX 50000 on treatment of my mother in-law. The balance was spent on purchasing other basic necessities at home.
