How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed in many different ways. I now have a new house for the family, I have an additional dairy cow which is producing more milk that is enough to feed the family and selling the surplus to meet other household needs. I have also been able to put more land under cultivation unlike before when I relied entirely on human labour to till and prepare my land. I am looking forward to having more farm produce now and in the coming days. The produce from my farm shall be of great help to us as a family as it means we shall have more food for the family while we sell the surplus to meet other basic household needs. Furthermore, my children are no longer sent home for school fees like they were done before we got the transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did so well in sending us the transfers directly to our phones. This gave us a feeling that we received all that was meant to reach us and we felt so happy about it. We have had past experiences with other foreign aids where there were middlemen who denied us the privilege of getting all the aid that was meant to reach us. On the other hand, I do not feel like there is anything that GiveDirectly did not do well. We shall be forever grateful for the support that they gave us.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to build a new house for the family. Before we received the transfers, we were living in one grass thatched house that was barely enough to accommodate all of us comfortably as a family. Moreover, I have sons who are in their upper classes in primary school and would often want to have their own private study time. Bringing this house to completion will allow them to do their homework comfortably and this shall definitely bring forth good results. This house shall bring more comfort to the family and I will be as well proud having accomplished this.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Ever since I have been planning on how to save even 500 KES every month but I had never accomplished it but right now as we speak, it is a dream come true since, from the time I received my transfers, I have been able to save 2000 KES from the sale of milk and what I usually get from my daily hustles. This is so far the biggest thing that has ever hapenned in my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received a message on my phone, first I didn't believe it was true until I checked my balance to confirm. To my surprise, the money was already in my mobile bank account. I felt so happy as I had never had such amount of money before.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Buying milk and maize has been a daily routine for me which has been so expensive but I had no otherwise and so when I received my first transfer I spared some amount which I used in buying a dairy cow for milk production and three sacks of maize. I am glad that I will no longer buy milk and the maize I bought will also sustain me for some months without buying them hence will be using the money to take care of other needs and I am also sure that my children's health will improve too.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means alot to me. I will use the money to buy dairy cattle which will help improve my living standards since i will sell milk to earn a living as well as use the remaining for consumption in my family
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time when the activities and goals that i had set for the day are over and the time to rest with my family too.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is lack of stable source of income. I do casual work of going to the forest to fetch firewood which i latter sell in the neighbourhood. This work is tedious and does not pay well hence it becomes hard to provide enough needs for my children as a single mother.
