What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
When I completed my hairdressing course, my dream was to open my own salon to support my family of five. Unfortunately, I have not had the capital to start this business and have relied on my husband, who is an electrician, to provide for us. I am feeling hopeful with the anticipated transfers, as I plan to use KES 50000 to open my salon and put my skills into practice. Additionally, I will spend KES 10000 to boost my poultry farming, which will help generate extra income for our family. This combined effort will allow me to contribute more and work towards a more stable future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Since completing my hairdressing course in 2014, I have never been employed and have relied on my husband Mike to support our family of five. To create my own source of income, I ventured into poultry farming, starting with just 14 chickens. I was thrilled four months ago when Mike, my husband, bought me 2 more chickens, which increased my egg production and gave me the potential for more chicks once they hatched. This small step has been encouraging, and I hope to grow my poultry business further while pursuing my passion for hairdressing.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In 2014, I completed my hairdressing course at Kituro Polytechnic, hoping to become self-employed. I have always dreamed of opening my own salon, but I currently lack the capital to get started. Right now, I practice on call and sometimes attend to customers at their doorsteps, but I feel like I am missing out on so many opportunities due to a lack of equipment. As a family of five, we rely solely on my husband Mike to provide for us, which is a lot of pressure for him. If I had the capital, I could help bridge that gap and share the financial responsibilities. I am determined to find a way to make my dream a reality and support my family in the process.
