Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. It was around 4:00 pm when I saw a message from GiveDirectly. I got so happy thinking that I was finally going to get the much needed assitance.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the fact I was able to buy a dairy cow and is almost calfing and very soon we won't be buying milk as we have been doing. This will not only reduce the cost of living but shall be a great source of protein to my family through the milk that we will consume
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 45000 to buy a dairy cow and used the remaining amount to pay school fees for my children. I had been unable to buy a dairy cow since the amount of income that I got from my job would not be enough to buy a dairy cow yet

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have been having plans for poultry rearing but it is yet to kick off due to insufficient finances. Due to hard economic times, with a family of five, life has pushed me to look for alternative sources of income. We are both professional teachers but we are yet to be permanently employed. Our salary mostly goes to school needs for our two children in school and supporting our parents financially. I plan to use KES 40,000 to purchase a wire mesh and posts for constructing the house. For the rest of the amount, we plan to renovate our old kitchen, cement the floor and paint it to look good. At the moment it is dull making it not very welcoming which sometimes makes me feel ashamed.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My son got sick a month ago, he was hospitalized for two weeks. Two weeks ago, he recovered and it made us very happy. He is now fully recovered, can eat on his own and play just like other children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge is financial constraints. We had taken a loan to do some projects which we have been replying to for two years now. This means our salary is being used to repay, so we get only a third of it which makes it even harder to meet daily needs like food.
