Increasing our land is on the top of my list of goals. With the number of kids we have, it's critical that we amass enough material things to share equally in terms of inheritance. The other thing is ,in the short term, is to start making and selling charcoal. As a second source of income, I feel this could work well. Finally, to grow more food, and sell, thus making money and giving my kids a life me and their father could only have dreamt of, when we were their age

Owning my own little bit of Kenya has always been a desire of mine. GiveDirectly transfers allowed me to fulfill my dream. I was at home cleaning my compound. I vividly remember it was around 7 am when I received the message alert on my phone indicating that I had received the transfer. I was with my daughter at home since my husband was out for work. Being uneducated I gave my phone to my daughter who confirmed the message and truly I had received the transfer on my account. I had desired to own oxen and ox plow which will assist me in preparing my farm to improve my crop farming. With this, I will be able to cultivate a larger section of my farm on time leading to more harvest. Previously, I was preparing it using hoe which was slow and with a poor harvest. I spent my transfer to purchase 3 oxen for KES 45,000. I am planning to sell one when it grows up to educate my kids and the remaining 2 to assist me in plowing. The remaining amount assisted me to purchase food for the family since we are still experiencing drought in our area.
