How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
When GiveDirectly visited us, we used to live in our parents home. We had always wanted to build and live in our own house but finance was a major hindrance. When we started receiving the transfer, I joined a savings group and my spouse later topped up and built us a house. This is what I consider the biggest difference in my daily life.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Yes I do. I am currently planning to start a salon business using the savings that I currently keep every month. Right now, I am a small scale farmer and a housewife, I want to have something to keep me busy while being a source of income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the privacy that I have continued to have living in my own house. I saved some part of the monthly transfers that I received in a savings group and my spouse topped up and put up a small house for us. Before, we used to live in our parents' house. This did not come with the benefit of having your own plans and privacy of doing things. I am glad that GiveDirectly gave us a helping hand towards this.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the near future is to start and have a successful salon and beauty business. This will ensure that I make enough money to meet my children basic needs such as school fees payment as they are almost starting school. I also want to grow financially by venturing into dairy farming. I want to diversify into different fields. All these are directed at being financially stable.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I now have a good and spacious house whose floor is cemented and free from dust. Before we were living in a small mud house which could not host all my family comfortably. My children had also started feeling uncomfortable sleeping with us in the same room due to their age. I am now glad since all this has now changed.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goals for the next four months is to use the savings from the group to start a saloon business at the center near home. This business will earn me an income to support my family to meet additional basic needs. I settled on this type of business since I have some basics in hairdressing and it has always been my prayer to venture into this business. The competition in this business is also not high as someone has to walk for a long distance before getting a saloon.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I don't depend on my husband anymore. He works as a driver and so, I used to wait until the end of the month for him to share his salary with me. I am freer as I have money form GiveDirectly that I can use at any time of the month to improve my home and also to meet my daily needs. This freedom to always have the comfort of choosing how to meet my daily needs makes me a better person every day. I am always happy my worries of lacking food as Iw ait for his salary are over.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I plan to buy a dairy cow. This is in order to relieve me from the need to buy milk for my children every day. It is very costly and unreliable as sometimes my neighbors who have it prioritizes large traders in milk over me. This makes my family to go for some days without milk even with money to buy it. Having this dairy cow also will give me a source of income.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am very comfortable after improving my homestead. I built a house using the money I recently received as savings from my merry go round group. This house is timber-walled. It is more comfortable and I don't have to struggle with smearing every time it rains. Its also looking better and more beautiful than the one I used to live. I enjoy living here in this compound something that motivates me in life to work harder for better things. I am a happier person than I was four months ago.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my life will have changed in that I will have improved my homestead. I intend to fence my compound to keep it decent. The will prevent cows from trampling on my efforts to grow trees for shade and even flowers. It will also give me privacy within the compounds as opposed to the way it is very open at this moment.
