Unfortunately or fortunately I do not have any new or additional goal a part from continuing with my poultry keeping and improving it to a large scale to get more profit.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that l started poultry keeping which is currently doing very well. I am able to sell them when I need to attend to any emergency or even support my parents in households expenditure, as compared to before when l did not have any source of income. I would depend on my parents for everything and yet they also have other responsibilities. The chicken are also a source of food to us especially when things are tough and our family have nothing to eat.

In the next six months l expect to have expanded my poultry farming business and getting more profit.

Ever since I started receiving these transfers, I have been able to save more because what I make from the casual jobs is well supplemented by the transfers. This gave me the courage to finally get married, which has always been my desire even though I could not do it before fearing that I would not be able to properly provide for my family. Getting married has changed my life because I now see the need to work harder than before and mature up as I still have my parents also take care of.

I have plans for constructing a chicken pen or an enclosed area for my poultry. So far, I have about forty local breed chickens that are currently roaming free during the day which puts them at a high risk of contracting diseases or even getting stolen as I cannot monitor them. To ensure their safety I will use the transfers to buy the required materials to construct the chicken pen as soon as I have completed paying for the solar lighting kit that I bought on credit.

Months ago, I bought a solar lighting kit with the help of the transfers I have been receiving from Give Directly. I saved the transfers for two months and managed to raise enough money to pay for the deposit on the kit then agreed to be paying the rest of it in monthly instalments. Buying the solar lighting kit has improved our daily lives as we no longer use smoke-emitting kerosene lamps which were also dim. My daily budget has also reduced because I do not spend on kerosene any more.

I am currently getting a lot of pressure from my wife and her parents to pay her dowry before the end of this year. I am not at ease because I am struggling to get all the requirements before December and at the same time trying to ensure that my family is also provided for. My father has agreed to support me by giving some of his livestock for the ceremony and I hope that it will take place as planned so that from next year, I can be free to invest my transfers on other projects.

Secondly, I have poultry farming which is my main source of income. I used to struggle to raise money through casual work which was very inconsistent. I would want to stable source of income so as to sustain my needs. This is the reason why I started the business so as to have a stable and reliable source of income. I would not want to go back to begging again.

My goal in the next four months is to buy cement which I will use in plastering. This is because our area is swampy and a house can collapse anytime especially in the rainy seasons. I would not want to be homeless again but make my house strong by plastering it.

The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have my own house. I did not have a house yet I had come of age to own a house. I used to sleep in my mother's kitchen since I did not have money to buy building materials to build a house. I started saving for building materials but was not able to. With GD transfers, I was able to buy building materials which I have used in building my house.

In the next six months, I would want to buy more chicken to boost my poultry business. I know if all goes well, I will have income which will help me provide for my family well and brighten my future.

The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that I now own my trandtional house (Simba ) hence I no longer have to look for shelter at my parent's kitchen .

In the next six months I shall have bought household items such as a solar lamp and furnitures .

Owning my trandtional house (Simba ) is currently the difference I have achieved .The interesting part is , it has saved me from relying on my parent's kitchen for shelter .

My new goal is to save money in togetherness with my parents and use up the saved up money on cementing my parent's house into a semi - permanent one .
