What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the last transfer to pay the contractor to build my house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by changing our living conditions. GD mobile money transfers have helped us to construct modern homes for ourselves.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I don't have any new goal. When I received my first transfer, I decided to construct a concrete house and that the only goad I have to accomplish.

What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy six (6) bundles of zinc, paid people to make 3000 pieces of dirt bricks for the building, was also able to buy enough food for the month. The good of it all was to comfortably paid my four (4) children school fees. I am over Joy and thanks to the entire Give Directly family for the support.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Firstly, I want to take this time to say a very big thanks to Give Directly for services rendered us during the entire enrollment process. You did a great and excellent job.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Annie, before GD came, I planned to build a very big house but could not be realized that because I didn't have the money. My entire life is just farming and the products sales was just hands to mouth. I was enrolled as a recipient on the GD program and received my first and second transfers. With the first and second transfers, I was able to start building the house, truthfully GD was God sent.

What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have decided to purchase 2,433 blocks with the second transfer. I have already purchased the zinc.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly has helped to change our living conditions. I couldn't afford to construct a modern building at the time. Givedirectly has empowered me financially and now I am in the position to do so.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before I received my first transfer, my plan was to build a mud house. Upon receipt of my first transfer, I immediately change my plan. Instead, I decided to now construct a concrete building. This will be the future home of my family.

I spent my first transfer on zinc and school fees.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that I can afford to build my house. My house will serve as a source of income for me.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very much excited to receive my first transfer. My aim has been to build a house for commercial purpose. I couldn't accomplish my aim because the funding wasn't available. Upon receiving my first transfer, I purchased five bundles of zinc to begin the process. When completed, the income will be used to send my children to school.I also used portion of it to pay my children school fees.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My greatest hardship right now is that my husband is hypertensive. Also my older son is mentally retarded. The little money we get from my husband's retirement package goes towards my husband's and my son's medications and as such during the course of the month we hardly get our basic needs due to lack of money. The little money I get from the sale of my farm products can not buy food for my family and pay my children's tuition.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In February 2021 my husband got paralysed and we never had any money to take him for treatment, I was very depressed and never knew who to go to for assistance, but luckily for us, his senior brother sent us $2000.00 Lrd that we used to pay for his treatment, and he has fully recovered. This brought me joy and happiness.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I receive this cash transfer from Givedirectly, I plan to use some portion of this money to send my children to school. My husband has been the only one working as a teacher to support my family needs, but since he got retired about two years ago our hardship has increased. So receiving this cash transfer will be of great help to my family and me.
