How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The only goal I have is to complete my new house and move in with my family. As seeing, my house has been badly leaking especially during the rainy seasons. Most of the times I have to traveled about four hours distance just to get new thatch to repair the areas that are leaking. I have wished to have a zinc but the lack of finance has been a serious challenge for me as farming is the only source of livelihood for my family. I am happy and greatful that GiveDirectly came and gave me this money which has helped me to build the house that I have long wished to have.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly as an organization working in my community has not done anything wrong. As for what GiveDirectly does well, I can say that when the organization entered into this community, every house in this town was visited to determine eligible households. By doing that, no household that deserves to be enrolled was left out except where the household refuses to be part of the program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The first transfer I received my wife and I decided to use part of it to pay our children's school fees and the balance that left I used it to buy two bundles of zinc. As the remaining three transfers were coming in, we decided my wife and I to buy other building materials such as nails, planks, and additional one bundle of zinc. I was able to pay the contractors who I hired to build my house from the last transfer.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
All along I have desired to move into my own house. This has been my primary objective for the past 2 years. However, I couldn't achieve my goal due to low income. Nonetheless, everything changed as soon as I started receiving transfer from GiveDirectly. I have begun my building project with my previous transfer. I will however, use part of my recent transfer to complete my house. Additionally, the balance money will be used to buy food and also expand my farm. GiveDirectly has been a huge blessing to me and my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
We have been suffering for a very long time. However, from my own understanding, GiveDirectly has been very honest in delivering cash to us poor people. Sometimes it all seems unreal for me to have received such amount of money as good will. I am overwhelmed with joy to be part of this program. Finally, I see nothing that GiveDirectly is not doing quite well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I needed to complete my house project to move in with my family. Moreover, I also decided to extend my farm and buy enough food for my home. Therefore, when I received my transfer, I bought two bundles of zinc ($21,000LD) to roof my house. Likewise, portion of my transfer was used to purchase 2 bags of 25kg rice for my household. My balance transfer was used to pay workers expand my farmland. I am so fortunate to have benefited from this program.
