How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have peace of mind because I have managed to deposit part of my transfer for a piece of land that I intend to buy which is a difference in my life that has been brought about by GiveDirectly's transfers . I am hopeful that when I shall have fully settled the deficit, thereafter, it will enable me scale-up my tea plantation farming practices hence there would be a realization on the improvement of my harvests and income as well. This will assist me in paying school fees for my six children. Prior to receiving this cash from GiveDirectly, I used to overthink a lot where to farm since I did not have enough land.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , GiveDirectly has done very well in giving donations inform of money meaning the beneficiaries have the freedom to decide on how best to use their money . Therefore , there are presences of new built houses and new ownership of lands which wasn't the case previously .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 45,000 KES of my second transfer on building a new house. Now that I have a decent iron sheet house I will no longer have to walk a long distance to far villages in search of grass because of late grass is scarce due to climate change which makes the repair of grass thatch roof difficult causing leakage when it rains . I also paid school fees for my child who is in secondary school with the remaining amount .
