How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I used to live in a mud-walled house which I transformed into a semi-permanent house which in my opinion will last for several years to come. I also have a cow which I bought using the cash from GD which I could not have purchased were it not for the transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I think GD does well by giving people unconditional transfers which they use to change their lives. Personally my life has gone up a notch higher.
I do not think there is anything negative about the organization.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used the money to buy building materials which I used to cement the entire house. I also bought seats worth 30,000 KES. I had to get a new seat because the one I had before was too old and worn out.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I bought a cow and I have started benefiting from it in that, I get cow dung that I use in smearing my house and I am hopeful of getting milk very soon.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I was overwhelmed with joy because I did not have money at that time and I knew that I will but whatever I was lacking.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer on purchasing a dairy cow for milk production so as to stop purchasing milk every day and re-paid a loan which was overdue. Part of the money went purchasing more clothes for the whole family members and did shopping in my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a dairy cow and the remaining amount I will spend it on buying furniture for my house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to my farm to plough maize. This makes me happy because I am able to sell part of the harvest in order to feed my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is that I do not have a stable job hence getting food daily for my family is a challenge.
