What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am the happiest person to receive this money from GiveDirectly. I will use this money to buy maize and fertilizer. I want to buy maize because we are going towards hunger season and I want to make sure that I have enough maize so that I should not spend time working in other people's farms to earn money. I want to have enough food so that I can focus on my own maize field.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months, I have been happy because I had enough food for my family. Having enough food makes me happy because it also gives me peace of mind. I do not have to worry about my grandchildren having little food. But as of now I am not happy because I do not have enough food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The major challenge that I am facing is that I do not have enough food. We did not have enough rains last year. A lot of my maize was destroyed because of bad rains. The maize that I harvested did not last long. So currently, I am facing the challenge of hunger.
