I feel encouraged and peaceful in my life especially on matters pertaining to paying school fees for my daughter. I am a person of value, no longer a village begger that would be called bad names but a good example that others wish to emulate. I feel happy when people talk of good chairs in my house and education of my daughter.

GiveDirectly has brought hope and power in the lives of people. I learnt that people have needs but lack the means which is money. I saw people pay school fees for their children, buying mattresses, cultivating their lands and engaging in small scale businesses. This shows improved human dignity and self-worth. However, GD would have thought of adding more money to those who made good use of the transfers.

I have withdrawn the second transfer and spent on paying school fees for my daughter who is in secondary school. I never had an opportunity to pursue education and feels the pain of illiteracy which sometimes include abuse from other people. Education is the best inheritance I can give to her as I hope that knowledge is power and will enable her compete with others in job market. Education opens doors for better living and eventually she might assist me in the future. I used the remaining part to buy a sofa set. I lacked better seats in my house. I felt ashamed whenever visitors came to my house since I had to go begging for chairs from others. I now feel comfortable with visitors and this has earned me respect amongst my village members.
