How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
GD has enabled us materialize the dream of building a better house, something that could still be a dream. We could still be struggling to begin the construction because the laden of paying school fees for my three children who are at secondary school could have been a challenge to us. Hence, GD's financial boost has indeed changed my life by easing the financial constraints that I had.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in virtually, everything because it offers their financial support in an extremely fair way. Everyone in the society has benefited significantly from the transfers; many youths who had dropped out of school due to huge fee arrears have managed to resume their studies because parents have afforded to clear the fees; many villagers have built better houses, while others who had no cows have bought some. Hence, I find nothing that GD does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer on building a new house. Initially we used to reside in a two roomed semi-permanent house whose walls were made of timber. Following the receipt of the transfer, we opted to materialize our dream of building a permanent house, and thus, built a five roomed house whose walls are made of bricks. Though the new house is yet to be completed, we have gained more prestige and a sense of higher living standard. Indeed we greatly thank GiveDirectly, may God continue to bless GD.
