Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer, I can vividly recall that it was early in the morning when I was heading to the bathroom. Suddenly, I heard my phone ringing, Upon checking I realised that I had received a sum of KES 55,000 from Segovia technology. I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness in that, I immediately broke the good news to my father in law who is my neighbour. I had plans already on how I would spend my transfer thus it made the work easier.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I was able to renovate my house in a short period. I no longer worry during the rainy season anymore. The transfer has brought so much happiness to our lives in an amazing way. We are grateful for the support that lifted our living standards
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am a housewife and my husband works as a mechanic in a nearby garage. We are blessed with one child. The transfer came at the right juncture, this is because the house that we were living in was small and it would flood during the rainy season. Thus when I received my transfer, I saw it as an opportunity for me to renovate the house where I used KES 37,000. Lastly, I used the remaining amount on medication because it came in handy when I was welcoming my baby to the world. All this would not have been accomplished if not for the transfer that we had received. We are thankful for the great impact that it had on our lives.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband and I were given this house we are staying in by my father-in-law. When it rains, water gets into my room and we lack a lot of basic things like beddings. Receiving this money means spending 40,000 KES to repair it and buying the beddings. I am also an expectant mother and I will use some of the money to help me after my delivery.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We received clothes, bottled water, food from Mombasa cement because of famine. This brought joy and happiness to me as at times and I was sleeping without putting anything in my stomach.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of Water. The extremely hot weather has prolonged and some dams have dried and others are almost drying up. I am spending 50 KES daily on dam water because I am pregnant and it is difficult for me to cover all the distance to fetch water.
