Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before getting this transfer, I had a debt and the money lender had taken my pieces of land as security. When I received money from GiveDirectly, I was in position to off set the debt and I have repossessed my pieces of land from the money lender. I expect increased crop production come next year because of this additional piece of land which will help me settle my family demands with ease. In addition, I have acquired an ox that is going to help me with ploughing my farm land and at times when hired it will be a source of income for supporting my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My phone rang at around 6:AM then I went ahead to cross check, it was a mobile money message indicating that I had received money from GiveDirectly and at that moment I was very happy because I needed the money to help me off set the debt at hand.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase an ox, a bag of maize, clothes, utensils and paid off a debt.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to marry my spouse. I have spent three years staying with my spouse and the in-laws are requesting for dowery in order to formalise our marriage traditional. This has never been possible and I do not command any respect from my in-laws. Givedirectly transfers will enable me buy cows to give my in- laws as dowery for traditional marriage. I will gain trust from my in-laws and wife. This will bring peace , love and progress in the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My favourite part of the day is evening hours. I relax with my spouse as we discuss our family issues. This has created peace and harmony in the family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of income generatiing activity. My house is lacking a lot of house hold items like assets for development. I find it hard to sustain the needs of my family members.
