How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am a business woman. My husband males red oil and I take it to the market to sell. The business does not really go well. Customers hardly buy. We can hardly get enough to feed our family. Things were difficult for us. My mother in law had to assist me with one of my children. Because I could not afford the tuition. I was overwhelmed when I received my money. I have been living in my mother's house. I always wanted to build a house of my own. But have been unable due to poverty. I had no new goals. My husband and I have planned to use our money to build a new house and begin a new business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does not do anything wrongly. It has made us own properties that we thought we could not own in a short time. We are so grateful for this opportunity.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was overwhelmed when I received my payment. I used some of my money to pay contractors to build my house. I also bought a bag of rice for my family. I saved rest of my money. After building our house I will use the money I saved to start a business.
