Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months I have a new goal to construct fences around the compound in preparation to obtain a good breed of a cow for rearing. Initially we had vows but school fees payment robbed us of all our breeds. We are now looking forward to starting up again since our children are soon completing their studies and we have been able to save some money towards the same.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Upon receiving the money from GIveDirectly, I have seen a lot of differences in my life. The biggest difference in my daily life is the ease of school fees payment, a task which was so hard for me before. After receiving the transfer, I managed to pay school fees for my three children who were then in secondary school and currently are in colleges. We are always thankful for the transfers since they really made great changes in our household.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect to have completed the fencing of my farm and will then be preparing for the next step of looking for a better breed of a cow so that I start rearing.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I use to struggle a lot when paying school fees for my children especially for those in college. I would borrow loans from KTDA in order to finance their education. I feel less stressed and even sleep soundly nowadays knowing I have no credit and fees is cleared for the current study period.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I am planning to save KES 5000 for the next six months. Since I have cleared all school I believe this will go a long way in meeting school fees needs for my children.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
We had build a house but I had not furnished because of lack of finances. I was able to use KES 5000 on paints. Our house now looks cool and attractive. Most of the time when I get money I end up paying pending school fees balance or credit.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My newest goal is to ensure that my daughter gets enough money . She is joining collage this September, I will hate to see her miss her course requirement and study materials.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In the early days, before I started the onion business, getting money for upkeep and school fee was a huge task. There were financial constraints and sometimes unable to sustain my children in school. Seeing them at home during school days was heartbreaking and that was the biggest hardship I've faced in life
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the happiest part of my day because it is at this moment that I feel energized and refreshed. A new day gives me a fresh start to better my life and am grateful to God.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Am planning to spend my transfer on educational costs. I have three children who are in school; two are in tertiary college while the other one is in secondary school. This transfer will ease the huge burden of school fee.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
From the year 1986 upto 2003, I had a small business that help me and my family a great deal. I used to buy onions from the farmers and transport them to the city. I made good returns that saw my children get quality education, better health care and upkeep. Besides, this is where I got the capital for my subsistence farming and this is the achievement am proudest of in my life.
