Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was spending the night at my sick mother's place when I got my alert at about 2am. I waited for daylight and asked my brother to read the message which confirmed that I received 40,375LD from GiveDirectly. I was very happy upon hearing the news; I told God thank you for passing through GiveDirectly to do good for me. I instantly made plans in my mind to send my son to school to give him better education.

I used part of my transfer to pay my son's school fees and bought his school materials. I used little portion of the money to buy food items for my family's upkeep and I kept the rest of my transfer for my building project.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I received this cash transfer, I want to build my own house. I have been in family house since my husband divorce me since two years and he left the children four children with me and the room that I'm occupied is not large to maintain me and my children. My sister have to take the other two and cater to them because of my low income that I am faced with. When I get the money, I will pay men to cut sticks and I will buy zincs in order to build my own house inorder to bring my children closure to me. The room that I'm presently in the house belongs to my elder brother and it looks shameful at my age and still living in family's house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest day of my life comes in so many ways: When my husband divorced me, two of my children were taken by sister son, for better shelter and education. And when day break, I see food for me and my children to eat, no trouble, I'm also happy. Lastly, I am one of the happiest person in this village since Givedirectly came in this village to give us cash transfer, that which I give Allah the glory that he has answered my prayers by taking my worries away. So, I will used 60% of the money to build my house for me and my children, and the balance 40% to do business in order to give my children good education.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I have faced in my life are: My husband and I was together for more than 17 years, he used to ill-treat me and not catering to me and the children. From this, my parents told me to moved back home. When I came home with the children, he has not come to see the children neither send support for them. Only my sister can send me food, medication for me and my children just to survive. She even took two of my kids just to reduce the hardship on me.
