Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The cash transfer empowered me to construct a three bedroomed house. I look forward to completing it. This has been my joy and I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for transforming my life. Prior, to receiving the cash transfers, we had dreamed of constructing a permanent house however it was impossible to achieve because of limited income.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very excited when I received the cash transfer. I was very happy and thanked God for this opportunity.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
The first cash transfer to purchase bricks worth UGX960000 and sand worth UGX80000 and cement worth UGX75000. I spent UGX378000 on construction labour. The remaining cash transfer was spent on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will build iron-roofed house for my household members. Iam staying in agrass thatched house which leaks some times when rains are much. My children and up getting neumonia due to coldeness. Once the house is complete I believe my family members will no longer continue over suffering from neumonia.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is evening hours. Iam engaged doing household work and my spouse is out looking for other ways of sustaing the family the whole day. We are only able to chat and feel togetherness as family during evening hours.I feel relax and happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of enough money for sustaining my household needs. I depend on crop farming for all needs but this is never helpful due to natural calamities like rains. I realise very little from crop farming to sustain the needs of my family members. My household living standards are demanding since I can not provide better clothing, enough beddings and food for the family members.
