How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now because I was able to complete building my house that had taken long without being completed since I had other pending things to always handle. Before getting this money, completing my house was not a priorty since I had lot of things to do and I would just continue to struggle with the leaking grass thatched house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by bringing financial help to my community and to me giving me money that has enabled me to build a house back in my home. I therefore see nothing bad with what GiveDirectly is doing.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer Ugx 1000000 buy twenty bags of cement, one trip of sand, transporting them, paying and feeding labor. I then bought a mattress, Chairs and utensils. I gave part of my transfer to church as a donation. I am saving up Ugx 500000 that I plan to buy a cow.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means giving my children proper education which will make her very independent and supportive to my household. Currently, I am able to pay school fees for my children through farming which is not reliable. The balance of the money, I will spend on constructing an iron roofed house which will reduce the burden of renovating the house yearly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in te evening after dinner. I will be resting and reflecting on the day's struggles. It is the time for me to share with my children and family members which makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Paying school fees for my children is my biggest hardship that I face in life. I have eight children and give of them are of school going age. It's difficult to pay all of them at once because of lack of a reliable source of income which is mainly through farming.
