Earlier this year, I lost my father and was prompted to provide the entire transfer amount, KES 3000, for funeral arrangements. From the most recent transfer, I committed KES 1800 towards paying school fees for my six children. I used the rest of the money, KES 1280, to acquire food since we had consumed nothing the previous night.

My transfer came at the time when we had a funeral, my step mother had passed on. I therefore spent KES 1,500 from my most recent transfer to support that funeral. I also spent KES 600 to pay school fees for my two sons, both are in class 6 and class 8 respectively. The rest of transfers just helped me in buying food for my family members.

I really appreciate this project because if it were not even for the funds I received my children would still have been home missing out from their studies and they would not have any meal at home because I could not afford it. When the money the initial thought I heard was to pay tuition for my six children since they had been sent home from school for almost five days I was worried they were missing out. I went ahead and paid KES 1,200 which was split among the six of them equally but I was still left with quite a huge balance of KES 790 to pay for each one of them. After that I went ahead and bought a bag of maize flour containing a dozen packets at KES 1,200 and two kilograms of beans at KES 240 because the drought had made us have a poor harvest and so having a meal was very important especially for the children. I also bought a packet of laundry detergent worth KES 100.

I was honestly overjoyed because I could finally settle my debts especially the ones concerning school for my kids because they would not have to be left behind academically. I was also happy because we could finally afford a food which would take us sometime before having to think of our next meal and so my husband were relieved financially.

Both my husband and I struggle to make ends meet because we are both unemployed and rely on manual jobs here and there, so with the money we at least managed to pay tuition because three of our children were not even going to school since they had been sent back home and we could also get a meal because sometimes we end up sleeping hungry due to no funds. So the money played a very huge role in our day to day life.

When I got my transfers at the time I had pending debts concerning tuition fee of my kids at their school so I proceeded to pay some of it because their school demanded KES 990 for the each of the five of them and so I paid KES 500 to be split between each one of them equally thus leaving a balance of KES 890 for each. I also went ahead and bought six packets of maize flour which cost me KES 600 because we had nearly run out of food in the house.
