Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Apart from livestock farming, I have a new goal to start poultry farming as I am projecting a possibility of earning an income from the selling of eggs. I have been doing benchmarks with the neighboring household which has around 50 chickens which at least half of them lay eggs daily. Converted to money after selling means the household earns at least 300 KES daily from the project. It is my wish to starting this month by first constructing a chicken coop which will be the start of the project so that I will be buying at least five birds every month.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
After receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly I have been able to change a lot. I have made a lot of improvements within the household and also on the farms. In the last four months, the biggest difference in my daily life is improved livestock farming. I have registered a great output after investing a lot in purchasing feeds which in return has led to improved production of milk. This to the household has increased the income since we have been selling the surplus milk to the nearby food joints.

In the next six months, I expect to see a great change in my life since the poultry project will have started and will be running alongside livestock farming. This to me means that the income sources will have increased and will enable me to start another viable project in the future.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different in that I have been able to meet most of my family's needs without having to borrow from my children like I used to do before. It was so embarrassing to always go begging my children to help me out in buying food and other household's essential commodities while I was well aware that they too had their own personal needs and those of their kins.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my focus shall be on implementing a poultry keeping project. Considering how old I am, I can no longer engage in bigger projects that may require much of my time and energy. Poultry keeping is the most viable project that I can engage in and I am determined to start this in the next four months. I plan to do this by saving the monthly income that I get from GiveDirectly and be able to build a poultry house and start small with a few poultry chicken.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
With my age, I can do very little to earn income that can sustain me and my family. I have had to struggle to put food on the table for my wife and I. This has not been easy for me and more often I end up borrowing from my children whom I am well aware that they have their own needs for their families. GiveDirectly transfers has enabled me practice subsistence farming and have more food for us and even surplus for selling to earn an extra income.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I am optimistic that I will have established my poultry keeping project. This shall mean that I am more empowered financially and I can meet any financial challenges that may come my way. This shall as well mean that I shall have reduced reliance on assistance from my children and give them ample time to attend to their family's pressing needs.
