How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much better after receiving the transfer. Precisely I was much relieved of the tedious struggles and stresses of raising funds for fending for my family and doing some developmental projects. I have been handling various menial jobs to earn income since I am a widow and the primary breadwinner for my family. I usually get around 3 USD daily, an amount that could barely sustain us. Hence, receipt of the transfer enabled me to make some investment by purchasing the livestock. This means we shall have some resources to use in the future. Also, the little savings I made suggests that I am cushioned from the tiresome tasks for a while.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by enlightening the community before sending the transfers. This would facilitate better decision-making on how to utilize the funds. In my opinion, there is nothing that GiveDirectly is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought livestock worth 270 USD using my second transfer. I did so to improve our nutrition since we shall get more milk, meat, and eggs from the livestock. Also, I purchased furniture worth 80 USD since we had inadequate quantities. Further, I build a new house for my sons using about 50 USD to ensure that they have good space to study and sleep in. I found that they used to face some safety risks and no ample study time while staying with my neighbor. Still, I saved 70 USD for any emergencies. Finally, I bought food with the remaining amount to ensure my family is well-fed since am a widow who usually does menial jobs.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had overslept on that morning since the previous day, I had gone to the farm and was so tired. The message notification woke me up and I was so excited that I jumped out of bed immediately. I could not hide my joy and on that day, I just kept smiling.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Right now my sons and I are so happy because we all have good houses that we own to ourselves. I also now own a cow, something I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever own in 2020. Thank you GiveDirectly and God bless you richly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I built 2 houses, 1 for myself and the other for my 2 sons. I also bought a cow that is about to calf and soon we shall be enjoying milk.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Improved household nutrition as well as improved living standards is what receiving this money means to me. I plan to use $280 of my transfer to buy an ayshire dairy cow and also initiate a poultry keeping project using $200 that will enable me to generate some income to supplement my groceries business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
After doing my household chores in the morning, I head to my small stall at the shopping center to sell my groceries. Business has not been good since the pandemic stoke the country hence whenever I manage to get some profit to buy food stuff for my children at the end of the day, this marks evening the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
After the demise of my spouse 5 years ago, life has been a struggle to me. I engage in a groceries business which earns me $1-$1.5 per day, and I usually spend all the amount to buy food for my 5 children, thus supporting their education has become a nightmare. It really hurts whenever they are sent home for school fees, yet clearing the arrears becomes really hard however little the amount is. This is the biggest hardship I face in life.
