How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has improved compared to how it would have been had I not received the transfer. If it was not for the money I would not be having any source of investment but I am glad through the money I now have cows. Besides the milk and additional cows that I will benefit from them after they have given birth, I am currently busy taking care of them. I am nolonger iddle as it was the case before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly does a good job especially by giving people cash and let them decide on how to spend it. Through the money most people were able to make financial decisions regarding their lives . Most people have improved their living standards. On the other hand, there is nothing they are not doing good at.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two cows with part of the recent transfer for rearing . I believe that cows are beneficial especially after they have given birth, I will benefit both from milk and additional cows. Again, in the future incase of emergency I can sell some of them in order to raise money for meeting urgent needs. I also bought clothing both mine and for my children so as to replace the old worn out clothing they had outgrown.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the transfer notification early in the morning. On checking the message, I had received my first transfer from Givedirectly . I felt happy and I began to plan for the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own some livestock which include two heifers and a bull. These are the most valuable assets that one can own in our poverty stricken region. I can readily depend on in case of a financial need. I can sell the offspring to help me out of a dire financial need as the heifers reproduce and increase in number.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a larger portion of my first transfer on buying livestock which include two heifers and a bull. I am expecting the heifers to reproduce and increase in number. I will be benefiting from the milk they will produce. In addition, these are assets which I can readily rely on in case of a financial need. I also did some shopping on foodstuffs and clothes for my family on the amount that remained.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"My ambition has been to practice livestock rearing. I have wished to keep goats because they can survive in our harsh dry environment and also they multiple first. Receiving this money means fulling my desire. I am planning to spend 80,000 shillings to purchase 40 goats. This is a good number for the start. I will be selling them when they multiple and educate my children who are still in lower classes. Other than goats, I will invest the extra amount on paying school fees for my children."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"Afternoon becomes my happiest part of the day. This is because it is at this time when I sit under our tree and enjoy sharing the meals with other family members. Unlike in the evening when everyone is in his house."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Lack of a reliable source of income becomes my biggest challenge. I am housewife who depends on my my husband who is a driver. His salary is not enough to cater for a family of 18 people because we are polygamous."
