How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have managed to construct my own house back at home, thanks to GD transfers. For a very long time, I had wanted to build my own house but could not due to little income that could barely take care of my own personal needs here in the city. Having no hoise back at home also prevented me from frequently visiting my parents as I should have because I had problems with sleeping in my neighbour's house whenever I visited. My once small business has also grown, thanks to the transfers that enabled me to expand it. I am now making better more profits which I will soon use to start another business. All these would not have been possible without GD and I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the project.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
With my business doing so well at the moment, I plan to use the savings I make from the profits to start another business. I want to open an Auto-spare parts shop in my area where I will have an opportunity to employ a friend of mine who is currently struggling financially. I also wish to invest more in farming now that I will be going home frequently and selling the produce here in the city at a better price.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I had spent most of my first and second transfers on investments and business expansion which was at a very good place by the time I received the third transfer. With the business well taken care of, I decided to use the third transfer to achieve my life long goal of constructing my own house back at home. I left my village to come to the city to hustle many years back, but have never ever been thrilled about going back home because I did not have a place to sleep and would be forced to sleep at my neighbour's house which was very embarrassing. Now that I have my own house and investments back at home, I will be visiting my parents frequently which I know will make them quite happy.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
There is a significant change in my life. In the past, I use to get little income from my business where I used to supply fruits to my customers. The income was not enough to meet all my basic needs and pay school fees for my siblings and I was forced to do casual jobs to get more income. When I received my transfers I expanded my business and can now supply many commodities such as milk, maize flour and bread. This has really boosted the income from my business and I no longer struggle to get my basic needs and can now pay school fees for my siblings comfortably.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life?
My new goal is to open a retail shop. This will be an additional source of income to pay school fees for my siblings. The income I get now is little and can not meet all my basic needs and also support my parents to pay school fees for my siblings. I will also save part of the income from my businesses to build a house because now I do not have a house in my rural home.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend my most recent transfer to buy a cow and an oxen. This is a good investment since my neighbors hire the oxen for ploughing hence a source of income. The cow is a source of milk to my family and I can sell the surplus to earn an income. I will thus save the money that I would have used to buy milk and use it to meet other family basic needs. I will also sell the calves in future to pay school fees for my siblings.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
Other than just supplying fruits to the feeding centre, I plan to open a fruit store in my area to supply the whole estate at a cheaper. I am sure this will be a great success because there is no such store around here and the local greengrocers sell theirs at quite a high price making them unaffordable for most residents. On top of that, I will also open a general store where I will employ one of my friend to run when I am on deliveries.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have always delayed in rent payment due to the late payments that I get from CDC which has always brought problems between my landlord and I.He has even threatened to kick me out on several occasions. This time around, it was different because I paid the rent on time and plan to do so from now onwards for peace to reign. I also dress better since I received the money because I was able to purcahse some new clothes and shoes.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am contracted by the CDC to supply fruits for a feeding program they are currently running in our area. I am glad the money came at a time I was very low on finances since I had not been paid for the previous month's delivery. I used part of the money I received to purchase fruit supplies for two weeks together with other items that were urgently required. I used the rest of it to repay a loan I had borrowed from a friend, paid my rent and purchased a few personal items like clothes and shoes.
Describe the moment when you started receiving transfers. How did you feel?
I had borrowed money from a friend of mine a day before I received the money to purchase the supplies, and was worried when I would repay it because I did not know when to expect my payment from CDC. When I got the money I was quite relieved because I knew I was able to clear the debt and have some extra cash to buy more supplies.
