How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! I have no new goals. My old goal has been to see my children becoming future leaders. I have also been want I to build a new house because our house is not in a good condition. I am a fisherman. After fishing I take the fish to markets to sell. Sometimes I make little or no money. It's hardly enough to cater to my family needs. I was so happy when I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly. Our lives will now get better.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done so much good for us. It's a privilege being enrolled in this program. I am so satisfied. This is a dream come true. I am grateful to God that through the GiveDirectly cash program our lives will get better.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used some of my money to buy some bundles of zinc and some other building materials. I also used some to pay children tuition. I used a little amount to buy a bag of rice and some food items.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in my village about to go on my farm when I received a message with a huge amount of money in it, I was very much happy and rejoicing that day, I was happy because I haven't seen people giving money to people free with out paying back. Secondly I was happy because I never had money to support my family, but I'm very grateful to Givedirectly that I was enrolled on this program.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life now is that I'm able to buy food for my family, and I'm also able to buy iron sheets to build New house. I never had money to do all that. But because of givedirectly support I'm building my own house in my village now. Many thanks to Givedirectly for their support.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfer I was able to buy 2 bundle of iron sheets to build my new house in my village, I also bought few foodstuff for my family, and bought just a little clothes for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The first house I had broke down and now my family and I live in one room. This causes embarrassment for my wife and I because we sleep along with the children. When I get this money, I will use a portion of it to build a new house so that my wife and I can have more privacy.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I heard about your organisation (GiveDirectly) about three to four months ago. With the unconditional grants that people are able to improve their livelihoods with. That has made me happy since than.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We are a family of four, my family needs food and other needs. We cannot afford these because the palm I cutt doesn't take care of all our needs. Therefore, my current challenge is lack of finance.
