How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I can eat healthy and consistent meals in a day as the business generates good income for us and we can plan well by budgeting for food on a monthly basis. With the transfers, I have been able to boost my business too which has brought good profits in return. Now, my grandchildren have a better place to sleep in as I was able to invest in better bedding. They can also have ample time studying in school as their school fee is paid in whole before the term ends.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a new goal of saving the remaining transfers and buy more building materials like iron sheets and poles to use in building a new kitchen as I have a very old one.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I can say that I am stress-free as I have fulfilled a lot of my set goal using the transfers. Most importantly, I have been able to save and buy more stock to boost my business. The business is the main source of income in my house. It has sustained us through the year since I set it up. I cannot Thank GiveDirectly enough for according me independence. I hardly have to ask relatives or spouse for financial support anymore. We would have endless conflicts in the house as we never reached a consensus when it came to our finances. My husband was the sole provider and he could sometime get frustrated because responsibilities weighed him down. With the business, I can also contribute towards the upkeep of the family just like my husband.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Once I have bought the number of required building materials that is iron sheets and poles, I will immediately jumpstart the building of the new kitchen which I anticipate to be erect by the end of the six months. I am looking forward to owning a beautiful kitchen which will be the envy of the entire village.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Within the last four months, I have been able to buy enough food for the family without struggling so much like I used to do before. Apart from that I have been able to buy a new mattress for my kids who were sleeping on a thin worn out mattress that was so uncomfortable during their nights. For me, this is a big achievement because it used to pain me seeing the kids sleep on a thin mattress that was so uncomfortable yet I was so helpless. Today, having bought them a new mattress, I can say that I am a proud mother.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am preparing to buy new grilled windows and doors that I will use to make reinforcement so that my house becomes more secured and safe for me and my family. This will be achieved by making savings every month in a table banking group that we recently formed within the village. Once the merry-go-round gets to my turn again, I know my savings will have accumulated to the amount I desire to have and by that time buying the grill doors will not be an uphill task for me. All along I have been using wooden doors that keep on being eaten by ants and are easy to break in case thieves strike at night.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have been able to make major repairs on my house which I never managed to do before. For instance, I have been able to paint my entire house both on the interior and exterior parts and so today my house looks just like a brand new house yet it is far from that. I have always wanted to make the repairs on my house but due to financial constraints, I have never been able to make that dream come true. I have been bags of cement every single month which I eventually used to transform my house from a mud-walled to a semi-permanent house in order to make it more durable
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have a plan to stop my small scale business where I have to go and fetch for goods from a distant market and come back to re-sell the second hand clothes within my locality. Due to my age, I think I have been straining so much and it makes me get exhausted excessively. I think Its time for me to retire from such a business and most probably become a full-time shopkeeper and earn some little cash without straining excessively like I do right now. I just pray that God will give me the energy to go through this period successfully and make the transformation a reality.
