I aspire to build my own comfortable house, replacing the mud structure I currently reside in to a stone-built home featuring two rooms. To achieve this, I plan to first focus on multiplying my goats and subsequently selling them one by one to fund the construction. Additionally, I will diligently save from my work as a motorcycle driver, maintaining steady progress toward my goals.The prospect of constructing a solid stone house represents a significant step towards achieving long-term stability and security.Through dedication and strategic planning, I am committed to realizing this dream and creating a space where I can thrive and flourish.

I work as a motorcycle driver, and with my transfers, I invested in a goat for $30, increasing my total to twenty. I chose goats as an investment because of their ability to multiply quickly, providing me with opportunities to sell them and make a profit. Additionally, I spent $34 on purchasing a new and larger bedding for myself, ensuring I have a comfortable place to rest without any difficulties. Considering my younger brother's education, I allocated $15 to clear his school fees, preventing him from being sent home from school. Furthermore, I allocated $4 to purchase food for my family, ensuring our sustenance. With the remaining amount of $19, I treated myself to new clothes, as my old ones were worn out. These investments and purchases not only improve my livelihood but also contribute to my overall well-being and that of my family.

In the coming year and beyond, my goal is to build a more spacious house. The current one-room structure is too small to even fit my bed properly. It is also in poor condition and on the verge of collapsing. I aspire to construct a two-room brick-walled and tin-roofed house, estimated to cost at least $2000. Given uncertainties about my motorcycle taxi business generating enough income, my strategy is to continue investing in goats. I aim to let the herd reproduce, and in the future, selling some of them will fund the construction of my dream house. I have so far bought twenty goats from the cash transfers. 

I mostly use cash transfers to invest in goats, considering them a reliable source of income. Recently, I spent $55 to purchase two goats, increasing my herd to twenty. I believe that as the goats grow, my wealth will also grow, providing a sustainable source of income even after the cash transfers end. Also, with the onset of the rainy season, I allocated $25 to plow one acre of our family land and plant maize crops. I hope for a bountiful harvest in the coming months to secure food for the family. Given that my father and I are the main breadwinners, engaged in casual jobs like house construction and motorcycle taxi business, having enough food will alleviate the financial strain. The remaining funds from the cash transfers were used to buy new clothes for myself, as I lacked sufficient attire for outings. Additionally, I purchased food to supplement our stock and prevent the household from running out of supplies.

I do not own a house, I live in my brothers house, he lives in the city so he is not using his house at the moment and hence I have a access to it for now. However with a lot of uncertainties out here I do not want to predict that he may relocate back home or not so its better for me to have my things in order. I am working towards building a house. With my income as a motorcycle rider who is employed I do not get much to have enough to build it so I plan to do it through this transfers. Through this transfers I am able to save with the goal of building the house while also getting the right materials to ensure I finish this project.

I had a piece of land that needed to be prepared for planting and this money came at a great time. I paid for an ox plough to come till that land at $25, I paid for the farm to be weeded once we had began planting on May at $8 and also bought seeds for vegetables in June at $5. I used the rest of my April transfers on food $9. I have a savings group where we save with a couple of my family and friends and I saved $16 to it. I spent the rest of my may transfers,$10, on food as well. In the month of June I spent $19 on buying sheets of iron and $10 on food.

Since I am certain of my monthly transfers, I have several goals that I am working towards accomplishing. The primary one is to build a house. That may take me a month. I am therefore hopeful to initiate the building project in April, 2023. Later, I shall focus on buying livestock, particularly goats. As of the moment, I do not have a house. I always sleep at my elder brother's house since he is away from home. He works in Mombasa. However, I have been desiring to build a 14 iron-roofed house. When I received my recent transfer, I spent $18 on two iron sheets. I have so far purchased ten iron sheets. I am looking towards buying four more before I undertake a building exercise. I chipped by contributing $16 to help acquire food to sustain us due to the current famine affecting our county. My December, January, and February transfers also enabled me to buy more iron sheets and food.

I am proud to own two goats that I acquired through the transfer as these are savings to me. I added them to my existing goat shed, and my plan is to keep them and let them multiply since I can readily rely on them in case of a financial need. I have also been sheltering in a grass-thatched house and my plan is to renovate it. I have been saving a portion of the transfer to purchase iron sheets that will facilitate the renovation of my house. Apart from these, I also managed to buy enough foodstuffs for my family that could serve us for a month. I have been relying on subsistence farming which could ensure food security, but it's now years since we stopped farming. Also, because of the drought, water was a problem and we had to buy at a high cost. Had I not received the transfer, it would have been hard to provide adequately for my family. I have long been borrowing my friend's motorcycles to earn a living. Since I am not employed by anyone, it wasn't easy to support my family. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for their support which has enabled me to provide for my family with ease.

Give Directly is doing an excellent job of giving funds to the needy members of society. With hunger being the most pressing issue in my community, cash transfers help to alleviate it by allowing people to purchase food. I do not see anything wrong with how Give Directly works.

When I was enrolled into the cash program, my goal was to buy chicken through the initial transfers. This was made into a reality after I used KES 1,400 from the recent transfer to secure four hens. The goal is to allow them multiply and trade them off for goats in future, which will be a profitable addition to my income streams in times of need. Also, having woken up the morning of the transfer hungry because my household had run out of food the previous day, I used KES 800 to buy maize flour. Finally, I spent the remaining funds on two pairs of trousers for myself to replace the old ones that had worn out from repeated use.

That day, I was stressed since I did not have any money for my aunt's send-off, which was set for the next day. I only needed a breakthrough, which the transfer provided. Even though I was grieving, the transfer managed to melt my heart and put a smile on my face because I would finally contribute to the ceremony.

The best accomplishment I have had in the previous week is getting a new pair of jeans with my first transfer. Before, I wore ragged trousers that were unsuitable for my line of work as a motorcycle rider. When I am out in public, the new outfit gives me more confidence. 

The transfer came at a critical moment when our family was grieving over the death of my aunt. It was customary to make a monetary contribution to her burial arrangements, but I had nothing to offer. The motorbike riding business, on which I primarily rely, had failed to provide enough income to cover all of my expenses. As a result, I directed KES 500 from the transfer to the funeral arrangements, which were scheduled for the next day. It was also time for me to get a new pair of trousers because my old ones were worn out and I did not think they were appropriate to wear in public, especially during a ceremony. So, I spent the rest of the money on a new set of jeans.
