How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to boost goat rearing an activity that I started with the transfer. This is my future investment for my family. In addition, I am planning to continue to support the education of my children especially my elder son who is in university taking a teaching course.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in enrolling every household without exclusion. Through the transfer, there is a lot of development in the village because each household spent them wisely. Personally, l very grateful for the transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 15,000 to support the education of my 2 children who are in primary school. They had had a huge fee balance since I was not paying their fee for half a year. I also, bought more goats to boost my goat rearing career. I also bought school uniforms for my kids, they were attending school with home clothes something that made me feel ashamed as a parent. The remaining amount assisted me in aquired enough food for my family of 6 members.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy the moment I received the money because it enabled me to get livestock that I had desired for so long and I am so happy to have them because they are as well a tribute to GiveDirectly, since I'll always see and remember the assistance I received.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that ever since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly, I no longer suffer like I used to before with having to always go to the forest and cut down trees and burn charcoal and sell. I also do have to worry about food for my family since I was able to keep aside enough to keep us going for quite some time, and there are goats to take over from where the food we have will been finished.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of the transfer which was KES 20000 on settling my son's university fees because it is my responsibility to cater for my son's education and I had gotten the money I needed to fulfill that responsibility, therefore, there was no thinking twice about it. I also believe that the good education that my son will have, will not only benefit him alone but also me because I know that he won't forget about the efforts I put in making sure he receives a good education. Inturn I'll be able to count on him in the future to help me address the challenges I will be facing. I also spent KES 12500 on buying five goats because they are an investment that I have always desired to have for so long. I believe that these goats will multiply and increase in numbers which inturn will also enable me address the financial challenges I will face in the future since I'll be able to sell one or two, should there be the need to. Also, I believe that it is a tribute to GiveDirectly for I will always see and remember the assistance I received.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this transfer would help me clear school fees for my daughter who is her final year in University. I will spend KES 30,000 on her school arrears, hopefully that after graduation she will definitely secure a good job to support my family which is really struggling in affording basic needs such food. I will use the remaining part of the money to add more business stock for my kiosk which is currently my main source of income to my family of 6 members.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is my happiest part of the day. It is at this time when I wake up and prepare meals for my children to go to school and later perform my house chores such as fetching water and washing utensils. I enjoy doing this because I feel I am fulfilling my responsibility as a wife.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In the year 2017, I took a loan of KES 50,000 to take my daughter to university which I was supposed to repay it back in a duration of one year with an interest of KES 4,000. Unfortunately due to some bad weather conditions during rainy season I could not perform my charcoal burning job which was the one I entirely depended on to get cash to clear my loan. This made me so much worried because failure to pay meant some penalties on the loan. Therefore, the hardship I have faced in my life is a stable source of income.
