How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I never had hopes of having a good house because I lived in a small rugged house which was almost falling down. I am now a proud man and can speak without fear among my peers because i have a good house and my wife also runs a business which is our continuous source of income just because of give directly and I am so thankful.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly is helping poor people who had given up in life to achieve their dead dreams.Personally I am a proud man whose living standards have been uplifted with the help of GD.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy a dairy cow which I had always wished to buy but due to lack of enough money I was not able to.I am now convinced that my family will no longer be taking black tea as we did in the past and we will also be able to sell some milk so as to bring in some income. I also used part of my transfer to buy steel doors and windows to fix in my house that was already under construction. Having a steel door in my house means so much to me because I believe my house is quite safe for anyone who might attempt breaking in and as well it makes my house look more beautiful. I spent the remaining part of my transfer to purchase two sacks of maize which we will use for consumption until the next harvest. wanted to use it for produce milk for sales and consumption. My children will at least get something to eat during this dry season when getting food in the market at fair prices is quite challenging and I believe food security is assured in my house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I'm happy, proud and settled because I have met most of the needs that I have been longing but I couldn't afford.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received the money I felt so happy and thanked God because I didn't expect the money would be sent.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I gave my spouse part of the money to boost her business by adding more stock so that it can grow big and earn her more income. A larger portion of the money I used to purchase building materials (soil, timber, irons sheets, nails) which I have used to construct a new house to replace the previous old leaking grass thatch house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I am going to expand my business and increase my daily earnings.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when working in my Shamba. This is where I do get my food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing currently is lack of money to help me build a house for my son whose house got burnt. My son had to go and rent a house at the local shopping center but paying rent is not easy following the status of being without a job.
