Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When my daughter who is my helper broke the news to me that GiveDirectly had sent the money that they had promised, I got so excited and immediately knew that building another house would soon be a reality. I was so happy!
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have enough food and I can adequately afford to provide. With the poor harvest we have experience for a while, accessing enough food food has been quite a challenge. I am glad that I can now eat what I feel like eating whenever I want. I am also glad that my new house is almost done and in the final touches of finishing. Once this is done, I will move in. I am excited that I will soon move in to an iron roofed house that I built; which I had never thought that I would live in such. I am thankful for GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a big portion of the first transfer received to put up a new iron roofed house. For a long time, I have been living in one small grass thatched house that would leak so bad whenever it rained. Now that I live with some of my children and grandchildren, the house was barely enough for all of us to stay in it. This is the reason that I had to built another house once I received the transfers. I also bought food and other household items using the transfers. Maize, which is our stable food here hasn't been doing very well for awhile now and it was always quite difficult getting money to buy the maize. used to have was and old grass thatched house. The transfer also helped me pay for labor for land tilling using a tractor. This is to ready the farm for the next planting season once the rains subsides.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to cement my house since the one i currently live in is made of mud and maintaining it at my old age is tasking. I will then use the remaining part of my transfer to buy sacks of maize and beans that will sustain me till the next harvest season.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning whenever i wake up feeling strong and healthy to face a new day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
At my old age of 94 years, the biggest hardship i face is dealing with old age deseases which has made me less productive. The pains and aches all over my body day and night no longer allow me to engage in strenous activities thus i have to fully depend on my children to support me prociding my daily needs.
