How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Early last year my husband was involved in a grisly road accident and since then, he has been admitted in the hospital for checkups and other medication. Having spent almost all the transfer on paying his medication because he needed medical attention to save his life is the difference difference in my life that I can highlight which the transfer has brought. I am glad we had these money at the right time to help in catering for medical bills. I honestly do not know how I would have managed to raise the money without GD.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , GiveDirectly did well though assisting the less needy in my village with money that had no conditions on it . Personally, discharging my husband from the hospital was the biggest relief that GiveDirectly brought in my life . I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong at its work.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the larger part of my second transfer to pay medical bills for my husband who has been bed ridden in hospital fhe last three months. After encountering a road accident which rendered his life in danger. Being discharged from hospital was my biggest worry since my income from manual jobs wouldn't be enough and GiveDirectly made it possible. To me GiveDirectly is an angel sent by God to offer me help in times of need such as this. I paid school fees for my two children who are in primary school and bought food as well.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is I have eight goats which I gracefully rear around the village . The fact that the goats reproduce twice a year and their offsprings mature faster . I am so sure they will multiply and increase in numbers within a short period of time . I shall sell some of the offspring to cater for some of my household's expenditures . Today, my house is secured in terms of food access since I can purchase food and compliment with the ones from my farm .
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I woke up and as my normal routine is to prepare my children to school and do households chores before resting while taking my breakfast . While I was taking breakfast , I decided to look through my phone in case I had any messages or calls . I took the phone from the safety box and upon looking through thats the point I realized GiveDirectly had sent me money . I was happy like a lost daughter who had been found and given a new name because I knew the money would resolve most of my worries.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent a larger part of my first transfer to buy a dairy cow and eight goats to rear . I decide to buy them since these are living assets that will mature and reproduce hence act as an appreciating financial security for my household . I paid medical check bills for my husband who encountered a road accident early this year, I appreciate that he feel better through up front checks that were facilitated with the transfers . I spent the remaining amount to buy foodstuffs for my family .

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to greatly improve on my farming. Presently I rely on hiring oxen's to plough my 3acres of land but it is proving to be too costly since 1acre is ploughed with ksh.2000. Since they have many orders, ploughing my farm tends to delay in that by the time they reach my farm it is nearing the end of the rainy seasons and over time, this has been a contributing factor to me harvesting very little yields. With this money I want to invest ksh.40,000 to purchase 2 oxen's and the ox plough to help me in my farm. I have also wished to own a cow for milk and I will invest ksh.20,000 to attain it. With the balance, I will purchase 5 goats at ksh.12,500 which will reproduce to help me educate my children in future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am very happy in the evening while resting with my children once they return from school. Aside from helping me babysit their two younger siblings, their jovial laughter as they play in the compound as others mimic to their siblings what they had been taught in school makes me very happy because while they are not around, I get overwhelmed between going to the farm, performing household chores and taking care of the two younger ones
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial constraint is the biggest hardship that I have been facing ever since my husband who was the main bread winner had an accident 1yeear ago and is still admitted in Makadara hospital. Since the amount that we use to get from his charcoal business is no more, all responsibilities have been bestowed on me. I am just a simple farmer yet I have to ensure that I take care of our 4 children's education, food and clothing expenses. The ksh.200 that I normally get from ploughing others farms as a casual is never enough and it greatly pains me that due to lack of finances, I can not even go to the hospital to visit him frequently as I would have wished because then I would lack fare to return home and even leave behind for food for the person I will be entrusting to take care of my children while I am away. If it were not for my father in law who offered to go and nurse him and even help pay for his medical bills, I am very sure that by now my husband will be no more.
