How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer since I am now owning two cows. I had never purchased a cow. Thus, I gained much prestige from the cow. Still, we get sufficient milk for consumption and sale from the cow.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In your opinion, GiveDirectly does well in the approach it employs of giving maximum freedom for the beneficiaries to choose whatever they may want to buy with the transfers. Besides, I like the way GiveDirectly educates its targeted individuals. Subsequently, the transfers were spent well. Thus, I find nothing that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer as follows: a. 35000 KES on purchasing a cow b. 3000 KES on buying clothes for all of my family members c. 4000 KES on buying farm inputs d. 9000 KES on acquiring maize for consumption by my family e. 2150 KES on restocking my grocery business

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a revival of my business. My maize selling business has been down for a while due to lack of enough capital, these transfers are going to help me pick up again.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. This is when i get to relax and I am usually in a good mood since the kids who cause disturbance are usually away in school.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The collapse of my maize business is the biggest hardship I have faced. The main reason for its collapse is the hard economic times that we were facing as a family:the hunger and even lack of other basic neccesities. All the capital went towards these needs and this rendered us poor and we resorted to casual labour which are quite hard to get and pay little.
