Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am leading a happy life after starting my livestock rearing job. Currently, I am able to get a steady milk supply for my family. Previously, I was purchasing them from my neighbor which was costly. In addition, my kids are assured of their education since I have an investment for them. I will be able to sell the livestock when they multiply to cater to their educational needs.

Having a reliable source of income has always been my dream in life. This is because I am a housewife and I feel it is my responsibility to assist my husband in bring up our family of 6 members. I had the desire to start livestock rearing to support him. I spent KES 28,000 to purchase a local dairy cow together with its calf. At the moment, I have a steady milk supply for my family. Also, this is a future investment that will help me in educating the children. I also used KES 2000 to complete the payment of term one school fees for my children. The remaining amount assisted me in constructing a decent separate house for my two boys because I had been sleeping under the same roof where I missed the privacy with my spouse.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means fulfilment of my dream to own indigenous dairy cows for milk production both for sale and for domestic consumption. My children are growing up and I think of milk selling as the only source of income to educate my children. The market of milk is good in my area and receiving GiveDirectly money will be a plus to me.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The afternoon is the happiest part of my day. During the afternoon hours, I interact with my children given that they normally leave school at midday. This makes me a happy mother.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is food insecurity. Affording the normal three meals a day has been difficult for me and sometimes we are forced to go without food. This has made my life miserable.
