Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My husband and I work on the fields on a regular and we only rly on the crops that we harvest to sustain our family. It was around 9 in the morning when I received the transfer SMS. My husband was working in the fields but I was home. I jumped for joy on receiving these good news and I waited for my husband to come home. He was home at around 1 pm and I told him the good news. We rushed together to the nearest MoMo agent to withdraw and we immediately thought of buying a mattress, livestock and some food for our home. We could not believe our eyes when we received our first transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I would say my family and I are now happier and are living better. We used to cultivate in the lands that we rented because our own land has not been fertile lately but we are now able to buy food for our household and concentrate on working in our very own field without seeking help.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought food worth 150 $, two goats for 85 $, a mattress worth 60 $ and sent 15 $ to my child who went to boarding school. We spent most of our transfer on food because we needed it. We normally grow crops on a not so fertile land and the harvest had not been good lately. My family and I really needed food and we thank GD for the transfer.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
In the first transfer, we plan to buy a pig for 100$ and goats for 70$. In the second transfer we will buy a cow to get fertiliser, the rest we will pay school fees and save.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We were glad that the family members were healthy and we got the rain which helped us in agriculture.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We are very poor. Life is hard, sometimes getting the basic needs for the family is not easy.
