Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The joyed and excitement I felt the day I received my transfer message can not be explained. Presently, family and I are living in my Mother's house sharing limited space with other family members. This living condition had not been favourable for my kids and I that are also sharing only a room. Building our own house had been a serious burning issue for me. I am a petite trader who trade in garrie, one of our traditional food. Sadly the earnings from said business was only enough to feed my family and take care of some of our daily needs with nothing to save for building a house. Henceforth, with my transfer from GiveDirectly, I am planning on using the money to built our own and spacious house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before receiving payment from GiveDirectly, I have been desiring to built my own house, but raising the cash for the project has been a difficult thing to do due to a low income from the sale of garie. I am very excited now that with my transfer from GiveDirectly, I will now be able to afford the cash to built a house. For this reason, I am planning on using a good portion of the money to purchase two bundles of zinc. Additionally, I also using a portion to buy five gallons of gasoline for the sawing machine in order to saw planks for the house. Finally, the balance money will be spend on paying my son's school fees. This had brought so much relieved to me knowing that very soon the embarrassment of sharing a bed room with my kids due to limited space will be the thing of the pass. God blessed GiveDirectly for this life changing opportunity.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Before receiving my first payment from GiveDirectly, it had been my dream and burning desired to built my own house in order to provide better and spacious place for my family. However, earnings from my sales of garrie had never been enough for this dream to materialize. Remarkably, with my transfer I planning on buying the first two bundles of zinc. Furthermore, I am also planning to used a portion of the money to buy five gallons of gasoline for the sawing machine to saw planks for the roofing, doors and windows. Finally, remaining money will be spend on my children's school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
About four years ago, my husband decided to walk away from the relationship leaving me with the children. His action left me with no option, but to struggle with the children all alone. The house we built before divorce is now leaking and the children are out of school. During the raining hours I do not sleep because I have to be up to have dishes under the leaking areas so the room can not be flooded with water. I was able to go into the bushes to get thatches to cover the house, but I am not able to roof a house so the thatches are left to spoil. If I receive any money from Give Directly, I'll use part of the money to change the roof of my house, establish business and the rest will be used to send my children to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
This year nothing has made me happy. I sometimes consider my life to be over because of the situation I am in with the kids. I am the only bread winner for them so I have to make everything possible to provide their daily needs. As a result of this, I am worried and sad all through the year because I feel life has gotten me all together.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge is how to generate money to fix my house and to send the children to school. When it is raining at night, I can not sleep because I have to continuously set dishes under the leakages and constantly monitor them before they overflow. I have thatch here but I am not able to thatch a house because of my gender and nobody wants to help me since I don't have money to pay them.
