How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to build a house. I have purchased a plot of land by the road side to start building my house. I am also supporting my five children in school. I'm happy GiveDirectly is here to help us .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is doing well in sloving people problems. My husband is late and I am the only one responsible for my children tuition, feeding, housing etc. I remember there were days I used to cry because there was no one to help; but today some of my major problems are being solve by GiveDirectly. I don't see anything wrong GiveDirectly is doing well, accept that they're gving us money we didn't even work for.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My most recent transfer was spent on workmanship. I am sewing plank for the construction of my house. I used some of the money to pay my children tuition.

The area we are presently living is the house that my late husband left with us. But the house is breaking down gradually but my present husband is not of any help. So, since I received the first transfer, my kids and I have started building a new house. I am so overjoyed that Give Directly came and took away the shame and disgrace. What does receiving this money mean to you?
My dream is to build a new house. Since the death of my first husband, things have been really difficult for me and my family! The house we are living in right now was built by my previous husband and myself and now it's in a bad shape. The roof has been leaking for the past two years and this is the third year now. We don't even have protection from the goats because of the house condition. Therefore, my first plan for GiveDirectly Cash Transfer would be on constructing a new house and my next focus will be on sending my children to school!"
What is the happiest part of your day?
My small son was sick for several weeks and the hospital said it was Malaria but he wasn't getting well. He was always trembling until I took him to one of my neighbors who is practicing medicine and there has been great improvements with his health! My heart can be pleased when my children are well and healthy even if we don't have food to eat! This is so because, I'm not in the position to look for food for them and at the same time provide for their health needs. So, whenever I return from my farm with the little produce and I see that they're all smiling, well, and happy it brings me joy."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"My main challenge is sending my two younger children to school. Their father is not alive and the new man I was given is not showing concern because he feels that the children are not his. He doesn't spend much time in the house and when he returns home he doesn't even bring money or food for us! His attitude really worries me because the little I gather from the farm barely provides food for the house before I can even think of sending the children to school. I often cry during the night but my current husband can get vex and leave for somewhere else and spends long time there. Then, he will return at whatever time he pleases!"
