Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The day I received the alert on my phone was the one of the happiest day of my life. I was so overjoyed to the extent that I cried tears of joy. I have been struggling very hard to raise money to change the roof our house. But every cent raised was spend on children's school fees after the petite business I was doing collided due to little income. I felt relieved when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly knowing that my dream to change my house roof will soon be possible.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before receiving payment from GiveDirectly, my family and I have lived in poverty for so long. Our only means of survival was from the sales of palm nuts cut by my boyfriend. And the earnings was always spend either on school fees for four of my six children or other daily expenses. Changing the roof of our house that is leaking so badly was very challenging. We couldn't afford the money to buy or pay someone to cut thatches for us because my boyfriend was always focused on harvesting palm nut that which is our source of income. For this reason I was very much excited when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly. Now I am going to use almost all my transfers to buy zinc and change my house roof.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After receiving payment from GiveDirectly, with my desired to change the roof of my house from the old thatched roof that is leaking badly and had become the home of rodents, I am planning to use a portion of the money to buy two bundles of zinc. Furthermore, I am planning to use some of my transfer to pay someone cut sticks for the roofing also. Additionally, the remaining money will be spend on buying roofing nail. With excitement I say many thanks to GiveDirectly for this wonderful gesture.
