How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have seen a great difference in my life since GiveDirectly came. I was always wondering when I will ever rear my own cow which is now a reality. We used to walk long distances to fetch firewood from the forest so that we can sell to earn some income but currently we are no longer doing that after establishing other great projects to feed our family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, everything that GiveDirectly did in our village really went well. The fact that they run the whole project on their own without directly involving villagers was so great since there was no bias nor favoritism. So far I can't anything that never went well although we are feeling that they should make a physical follow up to help out those who drunkards
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Being a single mother, I had full responsibility to plan alone the use of all the Money I received from Give Directly. I made a decision to purchase a cow worth 28000 KES, completed the payment of a piece of land which I was buying with the 15000 KES and also completed the construction of a new house with the remaining 10000 KES. I am much grateful to GiveDirectly for the great support they gave us. I am no longer suffering in the old house which was already leaking, I am producing milk from my own cow unlike in the past when I was buying and also I am owning a piece of land.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Having lived as an internally displaced person, I knew the struggles that I had gone through including lack of food. The biggest difference in my daily life now is the fact that I have two cows and a dairy goat for rearing and the fact that I am able to provide the daily needs for my family. All I am doing now is to praise God for sending Give Directly to us and I bless them for the good deeds they are doing to us.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
One early morning just as I was going about my daily businesses, I heard some village mates saying that transfers from Give Directly had been sent and since my phone had no power, I went to charge it. Upon powering on, I was so happy to see that I too had received the transfer. I gave thanks to God for the gift.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought three cows and a dairy goat for rearing. Having been evicted and lived as an Internally displace person, and later got a piece of land to live, all I was praying and hoping to get was a cow to rear. When a good Samaritan offered me a small piece of land to build, I started saving with an hope of getting at least one cow to rear. Therefore when I got these money, I did not hesitate to buy a these livestock. I used the rest of the transfers to buy food for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I live in a small parcel of land which I bought some few months ago. This land is inadequate for me to live and at the same time carry out my farming. Now, receiving this money means I'll be able to add the size of my farm so as to increase the acreage under cultivation. Furthermore, I'll be able to plant crops for both subsistence and commercial use.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day begins in the morning when I wake up and prepare my kids to go to school and thereafter do some household chores before heading to my farm. I then carryout some farming activities on my farm until evening where I get joined by my kids from school as we finalize the day's activities on the farm. This normally provides me with the best time to mingle with my kids as I teach them about morals of life hence making it the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have ever experienced came after I got separated from my husband. This happened due to continued conflicts and misunderstanding triggered by him and since then I have been on my own. I decided to move on with my life together with my five kids and life has been so tough. Having no regular source of income I have been toiling and doing casual jobs (even those jobs perceived to be for men like quarrying) so as to cater for my kids.
