How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have always admired to be my own boss by owning a motorcycle and because of the meager income. I opted to hire a motorcycle which came with a lot of demands like paying a stated amount every day. I used to worry on bad days when I didn't make much to pay for the hired motorcycle at the same time purchase basic needs for my household. Currently, my life is different for the last four months in that I have purchased a motorcycle purposely for motorcycle taxi business and the profits assist me to sustain my family with ease. I also have peace since I no longer worry about giving my employee reasons for not bringing the stated commission on bad days.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I intend to use part of my GD transfers to buy building materials such as iron sheets in the next four months. When I shall have collected the required building materials then I will build a new iron sheet house that I have always desired. I anticipate a relief when this gaol shall have actualized since I will no longer incur costly expenses of buying grass as they are scarce in my area.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have purchased a motorcycle meaning I enjoy all the profits on a daily basis. This income supports my family fairly with ease in paying school fees for my children. In the past, it was difficult to support them because the commissions I got were meager from the hired motorcycle which I operated for taxi business only. I am delighted that cash transfers have empowered me more by ushering my income independency.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have always desired to build a new house since I am currently staying in a grass thatched house. I will be using part of my GD transfers to buy building materials such as iron sheets. Therefore, I am hopeful that in the next six months I shall be done with buying iron sheets so that I can now build the house I have always desired.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The pain of living in a leaking grassed thatched house for 5 years has run its course since I spent my money on buying three pieces of iron which I have added onto the ones I had bought before and now I am a happy man since I am fore-seeing my dream of constructing an iron sheet house which used to seem impossible.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to save money and pay school fees for my children so that they will be able to pursue their dream without any interference.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
It has been my dream to own at least one kind of livestock in my life. This has not been possible because of my low income from the motorcycle business. Since I used to hire a motorcycle for the taxi business, I have not been able to achieve this dream. The little I used to get would go directly to food and in most cases, I would have so many debts when I had to pay school fees for my children. Since I started receiving these transfers, I have been able to sort most of my financial issues in time and save part of it which I used to buy a sheep. I feel very proud because this is one area which was lacking in my life. My life is now moving in the direction I have always wanted it to take. Thanks to GD.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to build an iron-roofed house. This is because there is no grass in my area and I have been living in a grass thatched house ever since. I would also want to have an iron-roofed house just like my neighbours so that I don't appear poorer in the whole village.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have my own motorcycle. I used to hire a motorcycle to do a taxi business and we had to share my daily income with the owner. The little that remained, would not be enough to save after buying food for my family. In as much as I used to go to work daily, my life was not changing at all. I was stagnant financially. After getting my own motorcycle, I have enough to feed my family well, pay school fees in time and save some amount just for our future use.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I plan to buy building materials. This is because I am tired of living in a grass thatched house when all my fellows are living in iron-roofed houses. I also want to upgrade so that I may be in the same standard as everybody in my village. I would not want to carry the name of the poorest in the village.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have money at least everyday. I bought a second hand motorcycle using part of the money I received from GiveDirectly. It cannot reach dusk before I have money in my pocket and I am always sure of my family getting something to eat everyday.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months,I expect my life to change for the better. I except to be staying in an iron roofed house free from the leaky grass thatched house that was not even descent.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Were it not for GiveDirectly,I would have never managed to buy iron sheets. My family could have still been going to bed on empty stomachs. This is no longer the case.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My new goal is to build an iron roofed house. My current house is grass thatched and it is also leaking which makes me it so uncomfortable to stay in.

The happiest part of my day is at midday when I am eating lunch with my family. I enjoy being with my children and it's the only time I get to meet them during week days.

I am planning to spend my transfer on buying building materials, pay labor and construct a better house for my family members and move out of my current single roomed house.

My proudest achievement is being able to quit drinking alcohol. I used to spend a lot of money on alcohol at the expense of providing for my family. I can now spend time with my family and provide for them.
