How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, I had desired to own livestock like others in the village so that I can depend on it whenever I encountered any financial emergency in my life. After receiving my transfer I decided to save KES 30,000 that will help me in starting the goat rearing. This is because we are experiencing drought and a lack of pasture for the livestock.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well for offering to provide proper training before the actual enrollment. I don't see anything that GiveDirectly did wrong.

I spent my transfer to construct a nice kitchen for my family. This is because the one I had collapsed. I was forced to cook in my mother-in-law's house which is a long distance from my house. I was always facing challenges especially at night and during the rainy season. I also used KES 40,000 to support the kids education by clearing their fees arrears.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was at home preparing to go to the field to graze my goats. I remember it was around 9 am, I was with my spouse at home. I heard a loud message notification on my phone and I had to stop what I was doing to inform my husband to check my phone. He discovered that it was the mpesa message indicating that I had received the transfer. It was an exciting moment when we received the transfer. We jointly celebrated and thanked God for the opportunity.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am currently living a happy life after clearing the fee arrears of my kids. They are now learning and focusing on their education without any interruption due to school fees. Seeing my children not missing their classes restore the peace of mind that I had lost for some time.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With 3 children in secondary school, it has been a challenging task to educate them. We decided with my spouse to prioritize clearing their fee arrears, I spent KES 20,000 to pay the fees. I also used KES 3500 to purchase building poles for the construction of a new kitchen since the one I had is about to collapse which is very risky. I was forced to use my mother-in-law's kitchen because I lack enough finances to construct a new one. In addition, I save KES 15,000 to boost my goats rearing in the future since we are currently experiencing drought and lack of sufficient pastures. I also spent the remaining amount on fetching water for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will buy 8 goats for my family as wealth .The goats will cost me 40,000 shillings. I will pay 24,000 shillings for my children's school fees, the rest amount I will sit with my husband to see what kind of business I can open in order to have a source or earning for the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the evening when I have finshed my hard work, have eaten my supper and I am in my bed resting counting the day as successful with my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship I have ever faced in my life is that I had twins of which my sons' were all well. They grew up very healthy and three years back , one of them developed an epilepsy disease and eventually died. Thus this is my biggest hardship to see my child dying of a disease he never had before .
