How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I had lost my livestock after my son and I got sick one after another trying to seek medical attention. Being a farmer at my old age, lack of livestock in my farm had been signs of an endless poverty. After GiveDirectly sent us the transfer, I am among the lucky person to see life differently again. I invested part of transfer on livestock these are dairy goats. It had seemed impossible for me again to buy on my own but l GiveDirectly made it possible. I am currently secured finacilal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has been good to us since it first stage of operations that was a public meet done. We were well taken through about GiveDirectly, made it clear of the unconditionality and the eligibility among the people in the community. I loved the fact that GD respected what they had said and fulfilled their promise.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
As a way of investing part of my transfer, I used KES 21000 on livestock. I bought goats and hens. These are my added asset and I feel good to see them in compound knowing I will soon have milk and eggs for my household consumption and sales. In addition, I used 30000 to build a new house for my chuldren. It's my happiness to see my children have good house to live in.Even though it is not complete yet, I feel happy that soon I will completed the remaining part. I spent the remaining part on my household daily basic needs.
