How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Greatest difference in my life is the house which we managed to completed with the transfers which we received. Now we have a good house made of concrete. I got easy time to clean the house and a much comfortable and secure house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly did well by giving us money with no conditions on how to use. There is no issue which I can say that the organization.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
At the time when we received our second transfers we had an ongoing construction. We were in process of completing our house. We then spent together with my husband the money which we had received on buying building materials. We purchase sand, ballast and cement. These transfers enabled us to complete and we are so happy that we now have a good house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Having food in my house makes me happy. We have been having the challenge of getting enough food for a while. There was an outbreak of a certain disease that affected our maize plantation. Since 2014, we have been buying maize since it is our staple food. I have managed to buy some sacks of maize which can last us for about three months. What warms my heart every day is enough food we have because we will not sleep hungry anymore. This is the biggest difference in my daily life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
At around 8:00 am, I received a notification message from MPESA. It was notifying me that I had received my transfers from GiveDirectly. I was very happy. I now knew I will manage to achieve some of my dreams. I thank GiveDirectly very much.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer to purchase iron sheets and other building materials. We have been living in a leaking grass thatched house for a while now. My dream of building another one went into vain because of lack of money. All the money I got from selling little milk from my dairy cow usually goes to paying school fees for my children and buying food. I also purchased maize using some part of the transfer. The past few years our maize production has not been doing well because there was an outbreak of a certain disease and this affected the plantation so much that we could hardly harvest anything. Lastly, I spent the rest on paying school fees for my children as I managed to pay their fees on time.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My dream of building a permanent house is going to come true through the transfers.I have already bought building building like materials like bricks,cement and wood,the only remaining part is payment of labour which these transfers is going to cater for.I will also spare a small part of these transfers to buy chicken,which through selling eggs i get money to buy the food for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I usually start my day in the morning with a prayer asking God to help me get food and other basic needs for my family.Evening when we are taking dinner as a family is the happiest part since getting food for is like an answered prayer,I depend on the sale of milk which usually fluctuates because of long dry spells which directly affects my cattle.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband marrying a second wife is the biggest hardship I have faced.He got married two years and since then relocated to another town far from here,we rarely hear from him neither does he support us as far as meeting our children's basic needs and educational needs is concerned.This makes me very emotional atimes but all i do is focus on meeting my chidren's needs through the sale of one or two litres of milk,this however is not enough to cater for their school fees we usually do get togethers as a community where we help each other raise school fees.
