My new goal is to save up and buy a dairy cow. This besides going to be a constant reminder of the gesture that GiveDirectly did for us, it will also be a source of food and income for my family.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to keep my children in school fees. Being a livestock broker myself, I am not always assured of an income since there those seasons that business isn't doing. Despite this, I am still expected to pay my children's school fees. Ever since I started receiving these transfers, I have been able to consistently pay the required school fee. This has earned me the trust of the school administrators and my children are rarely sent away from school. We were also able to team up with my spouse and started a poultry farm which from the proceeds we get from the sale of their products, is able to meet the daily basic needs.

My expectation in the near future is to improve my farming in a parcel of land that I had purchased previously. utilizing this piece of land with cash crops will allow use of the proceeds to pay my children's school fees and meet all our basic needs. I plan to first fence around the farm to reduce the risk of attacks of the crops. I hope my crops will do well and supply us with enough food for family use and sell the rest for an Income. I want to be in a position where I can comfortably pay my children's school fees and ensure their education has minimum hitches.

For the last four months, there has really been a big difference. Actually, since I received the money changes have been many and in the last four months is not an exception. I have improved in the agriculture sector where I have increased the land under cultivation. Although farming on maize has been hard due to the endemic maize-streak disease, we have been able to produce adequate food and surplus to sell in other sections too. I have majored a lot in beans production which has been so good due to their market prices at the moment. I have also ventured on potato farming though I have not harvested any at the moment but by the look of things they are able to produce a good number of sacks at the harvest. Farming has really changed my life right from the adequacy of food in our household to the paying of school fees in time.

Having a sizeable piece of land has been hard to manage without it having subdivided into smaller pieces. I have been hoping to subdivide with a define fencing wire but I have been contemplating for a long time where I will get the posts and the barbed wire. Now that I have gotten the means, I have a new plan to obtained a barbed wire so that I can start fencing. I would wish to create some smaller units where I can keep the cows in some parts and do farming in some parts. This will ease the farm management practices and even reduce the cost of maintaining other farm operations.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the ease of payment of school fees. I have two daughters; one in the college level and one in secondary school and payment of school fees have become so easy since I started receiving the transfers. I started poultry farming which is now very productive. I am collecting a lot of eggs and selling the aging chicken to the potential customers and hotels around. This project has seen me improved my agricultural production since I have been investing the accrued amount in my farms which in turn have been yielding satisfactorily to my expectation. In the next six months, I expect to have added a heifer to my herd. I currently have 7 cows, three of them actively producing milk, one almost calving down and the other three are heifers. Milk production has been our main source of income and a plan to increase the herd is really advisable since it will translate to higher milk production thus profit. Most of the cows in my herd have been there even before GIveDirectly came in and at the moment I would wish to bring in one using these transfers so that It will always act as a reminder of how good GiveDIrectly has done to us even after completing the transfers.

Last year I had invested part of my transfer on planting some maize. Last month I managed to harvest ten sacks of maize which had never happened before. Now I no longer buy maize for consumption like it use to be before. We can now take ugali two times a day unlike before we would only take it once a day. Having enough food is the difference which I am so happy about.

My additional goal is to spend my next transfer on taking care of my maize crops. I intend to buy chemicals for controlling pests and spend the other part to hire people to weed.

In the last four months, I have been spending part of the money which GiveDirectly has been sending to me to support my farming. I bought fertilizers and hybrid maize seeds which I planted on a piece of land. Before I would struggle to pay school fees for my children and left with almost none to buy farm inputs. Now, having healthier crops am so happy knowing that I would have a good harvest which will enable me to have enough food to feed my family and even sell the surplus to earn income to pay school fees for my children.

In the next six months, I would like to buy some sheep for rearing. Sheep are fast maturing and that when I get some within a very short time they will multiply and I will have more stock. During a financial crisis, I will sell some to earn money for supporting my family needs.

My life is currently better. I do not strain financially with farm requirements. I comfortably planted my crops using the funds unlike earlier when I used to struggle and sell the produce so as to buy fertilizer and seedlings to plant another crop of maize and beans.

My new goal is to invest in poultry so as to get an income from selling eggs. The income will help us to buy food and toiletries.

Give Directly transfers have really helped me. My financial burdens are now lighter because I used to sell the farm produce so as to afford the fertilizer but now I did not have to sell the maize because the transfer enabled me to buy the fertilizer and we have enough food as a result.

I expect my life to be better economically because I am receiving Give Directly transfers. We will invest in poultry as a household and have a source of income from selling eggs. Our basic needs of food and toiletries will be met without having to run around with casual work to meet such needs as we have been doing.

In the next six months I will have paid school fees for my child in secondary school.I will also have chicken in my poultry system that will be sourcing income from the eggs.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have freed my mind from school fees stress.It no longer longer bothers me because my child is now back in school.He had to miss school because i would not have had money to clear his school fees areas.
