Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy and blessed the moment I received the money. The kind of money that I have never received in my life before. I was so happy to the extent that I wondered whether this money is real. All along, I have been thinking of renovating my house but I have not been able to raise money because of the too many financial problems.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
There are some positive changes in my daily life now as compared to before. I now have the means of renovating my house that I couldn't easily afford to do because of the lack of finance. I'm also proud of myself that I have little money.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two bundles of zinc, I bought sticks and paid workmanship for the renovation of my house. I also bought food for my family and I.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I'm successful to receive this money, I will use some to start a business and use the balance to reconditioned my house which will bring joy to me. I do daily higher work to sustain my family but the money I earn from the work is not enough to cover the needs of my family and also reconditioned my house or even start a business for me. As you can see, the house where I currently live with my family is not in good condition, one side is being roofed with a zinc and the other side has tash which is leaking. Whenever it is about to rain, especially at evening hours, I can really be worried because of the condition of my house roof; I feel so bad living in this kind of structure but I don't currently have the means of changing it because I don't have money to do it.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months, what has brought me so much joy or happiness, is when one of my aunties who goes by the name, Mamie Sirleaf called me to Monrovia and bought me a dozen of slippers to sell as a means of earning for my children and myself. What she did brought me so much happiness, knowing that the money I earned weekly from the daily higher work can't even reach the amount she bought the dozen of slippers. Eventhough I was not able to maintain the sale of slippers because we spent all the profit as well as the capital on food for my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The hardships I'm facing now is the lack of money. I want to reconditioned my house and start a business which will bring me so much joy but I don't have money. The house I live in leak everytime rain falls and I feel bad about my condition every day. The money I earned from the daily higher work I'm doing is four (400) Liberian dollars per day and I work three times in the week. So the money I earned is not enough to even cover the needs of my family, least to speak of starting a business or reconditioning our house. Everytime I sit and see the way things are going on with me and my family brings me so much sorrow to the extent that I sometimes cry at night, praying for God to help change my living conditions.
