How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In the coming year, I hope to start a business. Establishing a business now is my number one goal. It will help me provide the needy support for my children. I am a mother to seven children. But only two of them here with me. The rest are out there living with my relatives. Despite most of my children live with my relatives, I am the one responsible for their schooling. I am just a farmer. Most time I find it difficult to afford all of them school fees. However, it is my hope to accomplish opening a business to improve my income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done so much good for me and my family. Without GiveDirectly, I could not have afford building a new house for my family. I am very grateful to this organisation for the cash received. From the money received, I was able to built a new house and paid part of my children tuitions. However, it is my hope and prayer that this good work continues. Because most of us (recipients) have a lot of good things in mind to accomplish. But to do that on our own is the biggest challenge.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my third transfer on the purchase of 20 bags of cement for the plastering of the newly constructed house that I have built from my first and second transfers. Also, I paid $100 USD for my daughter first semester school fees and used the balance to pay for the workmanship of my house which I have built. It has been my desire to build a new house for my family and I, since the old house is no longer in a good condition. My first house was built with thatched-roof. The roof leaks too much. Whenever it rains, my family and I spent our entire time throwing water out of the house. I am tired of living under a leaking thatched roof. So I spent my most recent transfer on the completion of my new house.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so much happy when I received my first transferred from GiveDirectly. For the passed years, I have been struggling with my children's tuitions. Due to the lack of finance, my kids hardly end academic year. But through the transfer from Givedirectly, I was able to pay all their tuitions to enrolled them in school. I have also been planning to build a new house because my family is a large family. But due to the hard ships, I have not also been able to achieve my dreams. I am so much happy for this great opportunity because through it my dreams are coming to reality.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is that I can now afford to build myself a decent and large house because the previous house that I am staying in is small and the thatch roof over it is leaking so badly. Moreover, my children's tuitions can now be paid without me going through all these struggles that I have passed through for the years. I am so thankful to GiveDirectly for everything it has done for me and my family.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Through my recent transfer from Givedirectly, I was able to pay my children school fees with portion of the transfer. The remaining portion of the transfer, I used it to buy one bundle of zinc for the construction of my house new house that I have planned to build. I have decided to wait for my second transfer to buy additional two bundles of zinc for the construction of my house because the previous house that I am staying in with my family is not in good condition. I am so excited about this money from Givedirectly because through it I will be able to give my kids better future through the means of education.
