Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I saw the message on my phone that I have received money from Give Directly, I was very happy and felt like I have gotten the whole world. This came as a surprise and a sign of re-establishment/reconnection to society in Life. Because receiving such huge money with just no cost attached was like a dream to me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before the intervention of Give Directly Program Things was very difficult on me.my means of survival were, setting traps or making farms just to sustain the family. At times, we will not find food from the morning hours to evenings hours. Most often, we used to eat Garree and coconut than later in the night, we would cook two cups of rice. Things became very hard on us. In addition, the entire roof over my house had been leaking and there was no solution in settling the problem so we had to live by it but when I got enrolled and received my first transfer from Give Directly, things became very easy for me and my family. We started eating good food and bought zinc for my house to re-roof it. I felt like a real human again and not thinking like hopeless person. Right now, my family and I are happily living at the result of the Give Directly intervention.
