In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in improving people's lives by giving them cash.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on paying my dowry because my husband had not paid the dowry to our place for the many years we have stayed together. I'm now proud my spouse managed to pay dowry.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I never received the money, by now my husband would not have paid dowry to our place. I'm now proud my husband having settled my dowry.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I constructed a semi-permanent house of 21 iron sheets which is not leaky-we can now sleep more comfortably regardless of the season. I was not proud of my former house

Let me tell you, the moment I saw the Mpesa message and confirmed that it was transaction from Give Directly, I felt over excited. This is because, it was my first time receiving such big amount of money at once.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we have faced is the struggle to get basic meals in a day due to the prices that have sky rocketed. This has made us miss some meals in a day.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest most mornings because I have anticipate a great day a head and in most cases at such times I haven't faced any challenge.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money to me means a fulfilment of desire I have had after seing people from neighbouring villages benefit from Givedirectly and build houses.
