Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer was one of the best moments of my life. I was so excited. Things have been so well. I was in the rubber farms tapping when a friend of mine came running to tell me about the payment. I checked my phone. I saw my payment. At that moment I was so confused. I didn't really believe that this transfer will come as promised. This is the first of its kind. Receiving this kind of money. Money that they're giving and asking for nothing in return. Money that I didn't work for. I am so happy that I got enrolled in this program. Hopefully, after receiving all of the transfers my life will get better.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly is that I can no longer have to worry about my house roof. It's approaching the rainy season. During this time I start to worry because our house has tarsh roof. During the rainy season it leaks. I am so grateful that Things will improve this time around. All thanks and appreciation to God and GiveDirectly for this astonishing opportunity.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am so grateful for this opportunity. This cash program is a life saver. I was overwhelmed when I received my transfer. Things have been difficult for my family. I tap rubber and get paid a little amount. The money I earn can hardly sustain my family. I am so grateful for this opportunity GiveDirectly has brought to our doorsteps. I haven't withdrawn my money but I am planning on using some to buy zinc to change the roof of my house. I also plan to buy a bag of rice and some other food items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I left Monrovia in January 20201 to come to River Cess County to do some minding activities because I couldn't afford to send my children to school because of lack of employment. The main reason behind my migration to Rivercess county was when my son who was in 12th grade dropped out of school because my wife and I were unable to generate funds to pay his school fees. Currently, my children are in school because of empathy from the school administration. If I receive any money from Give Directly, I will use part of it to establish a business and the rest will go towards my children school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Since this year nothing has brought happiness to me. On a daily basis I feel so hurt of being separated from my family because of my financial staus. I am finding it so difficult to cope with life here.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge has been the continuous disruption of mining activities on the mining field by the Government of Liberia on ground that we don't have legal documents to operate. If these people come and you don't have the right documents, they will take money from you as a bribe to cover up but after certain time another group will come for the same reason. Because of the continuous financial exploitation from the government, we are left with nothing to sustain our family. This act from the government has slowed minding activities which is seriously affecting the livelihood of my family.
